The Liquid Lab's now an Indian restaurant. May as well delete the page? -- Flick
*Nearby Tube stations: Old Street / Moorgate / Liverpool Street

A fairly mixed theme restaurant up City Road - the theme is "Things of a medical nature".
This is shown in the decor - framed X-Rays of a "How did that get there?" nature, medical instruments hanging from the lights and big old hospital sinks in the bathrooms - and the bedpans they present your bill in. Apart from the themed bits, its a fairly bare bar/restaurant, with plain wooden tables.

Layout
It
's quite a thin place, with some tables up the front near the door, and a bar at the back - there's also a small mezzanine with 4 larger picnic tables (suitable for 8 or so). It's been redecorated recently and the area closest to the door now sports two dentists chairs and a waiting room-style coffee table.

There is a small downstairs room,
that looks more like a function room than a spill over from the upstairs, which has the bathrooms at the back. The stairs are quite steep and narrow, and it was all a bit dark - I think they were trying to give us a hint to go back to work though...

Food and Drink
The menu seems to change daily, and consists of a similar but slightly more upmarket range than you find in the All
-Bar-Ones and other generic city lunchtime haunts of the area. There is also usually a good vegetarian selection. On the day we went they had:

Starters
* Salmon Fishcakes - nice, but basically flaked salmon shaped into a burger
* Beef Stuffed Chillis - looked good

Mains
* Burger - quite dry, but good sized
* Sausage and mash - sausages with huge chunks of apples in, good mash and lovely red cabbage
* Pork fillet with random fruit chutney - dry, but alright

They also do a range of interesting looking sandwiches that I am reliably informed are quite tasty.

Starters were 3-5pounds, main 7-15pounds, sandwiches ~6pounds

Drinkwise they had Staropramen and Hoegarden on tap, and a wide range of bottled beers. We didn't have any wine, but I'd guess they'd have an interesting selection. Soft drink-wise it looked fairly boring, but they might have some interesting juices if you asked nicely. Continuing the medical theme, there are also big syringes of various flavours of vodka jelly.

Overall
Was a good lunch, with quick and friendly service - it was quite pricey, but this is up the Sosho Match end of the city road... Staff are friendly and polite, and willing to work off the menu if you ask nicely
