Interchanges

In each direction are cross platform interchanges between the District Line and the Piccadilly Line - the outer tracks for the District and the inner for the Piccadilly. Note that Piccadilly Line trains sometimes use the outer tracks. A lot of people change here westbound, as this is where the Piccadilly line forks between the Rayner's Lane and Heathrow branches.

Terminating trains

Acton Town is a favourite place for turning around trains, as it has a large depot and training facility, and is also close to Northfields and Ealing Common depots. Beware if travelling through here eastbound late at night. This is one of the stations where trains can be taken out of service and put to bed.

Firstly, there is a 24X7 minicab place in the station (Churchill Cars) who are reasonably reputable.

Secondly, there are buses that run past the front of the station. The E3 is frequent during the daytime, and this runs between Greenford and Chiswick via [South Ealing]? and Acton. The N11 night bus runs into Central London via Chiswick.

As an alternative, a 10 minute walk takes you to Acton High Street, where you can catch a 207/N207 which runs between Uxbridge and Shepherd's Bush (the N207 goes into Central London), and a 266/N266 to Hammersmith or Brent Cross.

Although Chiswick is not far away (1/2 hour walk), walking along Bollo Lane late at night is not recommended, and is avoided by the locals, as this road takes you past the end of the notorious South Acton estate.

It's worth noting that you can bunk off your tube fare by just walking off the platform onto the road here.
