Clapton is the poor cousin of Hackney and Stoke Newington; it's to the north of the former and the east of the latter, sitting on the River Lea just over from Walthamstow. It has a pub, a million corner shops and fast-food joints, and not a lot else. Clapton's only claim to fame is that it is home to the Murder Mile.
