Forest Gate is a busy, multi-ethnic district in the east of London. It lies between Stratford to the west and Ilford to the east. To the north lies Wanstead and to the south, East Ham.

The area - rather literally - takes its name from the gate into Epping Forest that used to be located on what is now Woodgrange Road. Epping Forest still borders the area, in an area of parkland known as Wanstead Flats.

The area has good public transport links, most notably Forest Gate Station, which provides easy access to the City of London.
