The postal district is E4, but that's about all that this leafy suburb has in common with East London. Lying in a not-on-the-tube area between Walthamstow and Epping Forest Chingford was always considered part of Essex until Greater London came into being in the 1960s. Note that Chingford is served by an overground WAGN service into Liverpool Street Station.
Probably most famous for its Conservative MPs: Norman Tebbit for much of the Thatcher era, followed by Iain Duncan Smith, Chingford also hosts the cemetary in which the Kray family are all buried, but is generally typical middle-class suburbia, with wide streets of semi-detached bay-windowed houses.
