The Open Guide to London: the free London guide - Differences between Version 5 and Version 4 of Charing Cross Road

Contents are identical

Charing Cross Road lies south of Tottenham Court Road Station, has Leicester Square Station on it, and ends near the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square.

Traditionally this street was famous for having bookshops in it, and that list now includes Foyles (founded in 1903), Borders, Blackwells, Books Etc, Comic Showcase, Murder One and many, many more. However, due to sharply rising rents in the last few years many of the smaller, independent bookshops are closing down. One of these, Silver Moon (a feminist bookshop), was bought by Foyles and now lives within the Foyles building.
