This is a nice riverside pub, ideally situated for viewing the Boat Race and fireworks night. It's towards the end of the course, and is recommended on the official Boat Race website. So unsurprisingly it gets horrifically crowded on the day of the race. Get here ten minutes before opening time, bag a table, and be prepared to turn lots of people away from it if your friends aren't all going to be there on time (most people are polite, some don't seem to grasp the idea that they should have been there two hours earlier if they actually wanted a seat). Yes, I know that giving this advice means that next year I have to get there fifteen minutes before opening :-)

Disclaimer: I've only been here once, on Boat Race day, so the stuff below is a little sketchy, being limited to what I think probably still applies on ordinary days. --Kake

Drinks

A bottle of what you get when you ask for "white wine" is 11 and always good quality, as the landlord is a bit of a wine buff!

Layout

Downstairs: one large room with bar in the middle and plenty of tables, a couple of sofas and two fireplaces which have real fires in the winter. The riverside of the pub has a lovely balcony looking out over the Thames. There is also a beer garden with tables, and down on the river bank is a very civilized paved area with several tables and benches. Very pretty and relaxing river views from the balcony beer garden.

Upstairs: Upstairs is the ball room,a large open room with a bar in one corner. This can be hired out for private functions, and the landlord holds occassional wine tasting evenings.

Facilities

The toilets are downstairs. Always nice and clean (well the ladies is anyway, don't know about the mens.
