This is a nice riverside pub, ideally situated for viewing the [[Boat Race]] and fireworks night. It's towards the end of the course, and is recommended on [http://www.theboatrace.org the official Boat Race website]. So unsurprisingly it gets horrifically crowded on the day of the race. Get here ten minutes before opening time, bag a table, and be prepared to turn lots of people away from it if your friends aren't all going to be there on time (most people are polite, some don't seem to grasp the idea that they should have been there two hours earlier if they actually wanted a seat). Yes, I know that giving this advice means that next year I have to get there fifteen minutes before opening :-)

A bottle of what you get when you ask for "white wine" is 11 and always good quality, as the landlord is a bit of a wine buff!

Downstairs: one large room with bar in the middle and plenty of tables, a couple of sofas and two fireplaces which have real fires in the winter. The riverside of the pub has a lovely balcony looking out over the Thames. There is also a beer garden with tables, and down on the river bank is a very civilized paved area with several tables and benches. Very pretty and relaxing river views from the balcony beer garden.
Downstairs: one large room with a 360-degree (I think) bar in the middle. The front of the pub can be opened up (pull-down wall thing) onto a narrow balcony looking out over the river. This room and the balcony also lead out into a beer garden with a couple of small round tables and some larger bench-table combinations. There are also bench-table things down on the riverbank, but beware — they get flooded at high tide.

Upstairs: Upstairs is the ball room,a large open room with a bar in one corner. This can be hired out for private functions, and the landlord holds occassional wine tasting evenings.

Disclaimer: I've only been here once, on Boat Race day, so the stuff below is a little sketchy, being limited to what I think probably still applies on ordinary days. --Kake
