Staples Corner is a fairly complex junction consisting of two flyovers and two roundabouts with peak hours traffic lights. One roundabout is the intersection of the A5 and the North Circular road, A406. The other roundabout is junction 1 of the M1.

Staples Corner also has slip roads that feed the Brent Cross Shopping Centre and Toys R Us. The Brent Cross Roundabout is the next junction to the east, and Brent Cross Station is about 15 minutes walk.

The A5 just south of Staples Corner also has a retail park with several stationery, electrical and computer stores, and a branch of Chiquitos.

When hitching, it is quite easy to get rides up the M1. However, the police do not like you standing in the hard shoulder or verge section of the motorway slip road, and will almost certainly move you on. A better place to stand is before the traffic lights, as vehicles will already be stationary (if the lights are operational).

The area around Staples Corner could be redeveloped as part of a plan by Brent Council to create a new town centre.
