Historical version 7 of Pedicabs (view current version)

aka rickshaws, cycle taxis, trishaws

For the last four or so years pedicabs have been operating in central London; you see them most often around the West End. Quite often there'll be a few waiting around for customers at the entrance to Leicester Square opposite the Tube station. I asked one of their drivers, on a whim, what it would cost to take me to where I live (Notting Hill Gate) from there and he told me it would be 20 a person. Quite steep. Still, pootling along in a pedicab might be fun if you're feeling flush.

I don't know how many companies are operating them, but the first one to do so was BugBugs.

In fact there are around 5 company’s operating pedicabs in London. Between them I think there are 200 or so pedicabs in use. Cambridge Trishaw Ltd was the first, which I (aka Spider) helped set up and run. I now operate Chariot Bikes Ltd see our site for more info http://www.chariotbikes.org

Our prices start at 2 per person. Some riders/company’s are more reasonable priced than others; Chariot riders use a pricing guide for fairness and consistency and will agree a price at the beginning of the ride.

NB you should ALWAYS agree a price before taking a ride..

If you had fun, which you will, don’t forget to tip the rider.
