* Nearest Tube station: Canning Town

I
've only been around the area surrounding the station, but and the impression I had of Canning Town, in that vicinity at least, was endless windswept council estates (along Silvertown Road) and large, roaring roads, such as the big roundabout where Manor Road, Barking Road, East India Dock Road, Newham Way and the aforementioned Silvertown Road meet.

To the west of Canning Town is the wide area filled by the winding Bow Creek; to the south is the Royal Victoria Dock; to the east is Custom House, and to the north is Plaistow.
