[Update] The non-smoking area has shrunk to be only three alcove dining tables, and does not include the high tables.
Despite the apparent increase in square footage from the refurb (the bar was knocked back), it does not feel bigger, in fact it feels smaller. Tardis in reverse? Perhaps this is what an estate agent would call "deceptively cramped".

Staff are generally helpful and cheerful, and the new manager is keen to make friends with his clientelle. What recommends this pub though are the punters: you get a wide, colourful cross section of clientele, including BBC staff, local historians and local councillors. It is also my local --IvorW

Juicy's Comedy Night, every Friday
I can recommend this. It makes a refreshing change from the mainstream commercial comedy outfits like Jongleurs. In my view it beats going to the west end when you can go to a smaller, locals venue like this. The atmosphere is much more intimate. At 7.00 (6.00 with a flyer), I can say that I had good value and a very entertaining evening. --IvorW

I have not found a review yet of the King's Head as a pub. There are plenty of reviews of it as a music venue, as it has hosted jazz and folk music upstairs.

The pub has re-opened on 4th June 2003.

Drinks

Fuller's beers - London Pride, ESB, Seasonals. Pride is 2.20/pint (Jan 2003)

Strongbow, Stella, Heineken

Food

A subset of what is available at the Red Lion And Pineapple, W3 9BS . To be written IvorW/todo - what the food is actually like.

Service and Ambience

Pub has been divided into a non-smoking area (artificial wooden floor, alcoves, and also high tables with bar stools) and a smoking lounge area with tables and comfortable chairs.

Layout

A single L-shaped bar. The small bar area gives to a disproportionate seating area. This pub does not lend itself to people standing at the bar.

Everything is all in one room. Toilets are on the ground floor, up a single step.

Facilities

 • Upstairs bookable function room, separate from the main pub, with its own small bar. Room is enormous!
 • Public phone - but this is often out of order. However, this does not usually present a problem, as there are several phone boxes outside.

Other Reviews

I have not found a review yet of the King's Head as a pub. There are plenty of reviews of it as a music venue, as it has hosted jazz and folk music upstairs.
