Went here on Thursday evening, 19/11/2004, the place was packed and very loud. -- thamshere It's all wooden tables and chairs and bare floorboards. There's one very sinky-into sofa. A few benches outside on Farringdon Road too. ==== Drinks ==== The drinks selection isn't bad at all. They don't serve Strongbow, instead offering medium dry Stowford Press cider (£2.50/bottle) or dry Westons cider. They also have their own Eagle bitter, and the day I was there Bombardier too (£2.40/pint). ==== Food ==== Menu written above the bar on blackboards, in slightly illegible handwriting. I didn't manage to work out anything about one of the main courses other than that it involved sausages. Mains cost around £9–£11, things like vegetarian fusilli pasta; the mystery sausage dish; smoked trout with new potatoes, radishes and samphire. Pea soup £5, cheese and flatbread (a generous and tasty portion of unusual cheese whose name I can't remember) £6.50. A slice of wonderful crusty bread is served with your meal. Food is served lunchtimes (noon–2:30pm) and evenings. I think they're closed on Sunday evenings. ==== Facilities ==== Toilets are downstairs. Ladies' was a little smelly and has the most useless push-taps imaginable. |

Gastropub. davorg says it's good but very busy — right next door to the Guardian offices.
Walked past it this lunchtime (Friday, about 12:30) and it didn't seem at all busy. Maybe its time has passed -- davorg.
