The Open Guide to London: the free London guide - Differences between Version 4 and Version 1 of Category Stations With Lifts

Version 4 Version 1
== Line 1 == == Line 1 ==
This category is for stations where the means of getting to one or more platforms involves lifts (not counting emergency stairs).

Note: just because a station has lifts as the means of access does not mean it is step free, e.g. Covent Garden Station has a single flight of stairs between the base of the lifts and the platforms. For Stations with step free access see [[Category Step-Free Access]].

The significance of this was highlighted when we had the firemen's strike of 2002, and LT closed all such platforms or stations.

When there is no [[London Fire Brigade|Fire Brigade]] cover, London Underground will not operate stations where the only access to the platforms is by lift. Note: access does not include emergency stairs.
