Famous for the Camberwell Carrot (Withnail & I) and for having a lovely village green. Things have changed a little since Camberwell ceased to be a village, but it is still less busy/scary than near-by Peckham and Brixton.

Open Guide recommendations

  • Castle, The Castle on Church Street; used to be known as "The Snug" before a refurbishment, which gave the establishment a more modern feel. Has DJs at the weekends, but quietens down mid week with tables usually available for a quite nice but limited range of bar food.
  • Hermits Cave probably your best bet for a decent pint in this small and friendly local pub.
  • BRB Does nice, wood-fired pizzas but could be considered possibly too "modern" for some.
