Historical version 1 of Cable Street (view current version)
Street in East London connecting the City with Limehouse. Motor traffic is one-way along the whole length; the beauty lies in using it as a cycle route. Cycling is permitted in both directions, and much of the route is on a segregated cycle path on the pavement.
This makes this an excellent cycle route between the City and Canary Wharf. At the eastern end, an off-road cycle route through a park connects it to the [Limehouse Basin]? and [Narrow Street]?, which provides an easy route into the Isle of Dogs.
At the western end, the route carries on into [Royal Mint Street]?.
The road runs alongside the DLR. Shadwell Station is halfway along; Tower Gateway DLR and Tower Hill Underground stations are near the City end and Limehouse on the DLR and National Rail (c2c).
Bus routes [100]? and [D3]? serve the part of Cable Street nearest to Shadwell Station.
