Historical version 6 of Benjy's (view current version)

Down-market equivalent of Pret a Manger. In a good way! They do ridiculously cheap sandwiches in a range of non wanky fillings including a cracking selection of bacon and sausage stuffed baguettes for next to nothing. BEWARE, they are of the school of thought that says that when selling you a cup of tea all they have to do is provide you with hot water with milk in and a tea bag. CAVEAT EMPTOR! For those of the vegan persuasion, Benjy's inform us that the "humous and pepper sandwich and vegetable crunch sandwich / salad would be suitable" for vegans.

Have to say that the bread they use, at least the "wholemeal" and "granary", is vile, and the kind of thing you'd pay 10p a loaf for at Kwik Save. Or not, if you have any sense. I'm not that fussy about sandwich shop bread, but my immediate memory association with Benjy's is nasty bread. Fillings are fine though. --Kake

(Anon. agrees on the bread thing. Very poor.)
