North Acton tube station is about 7 minutes walk away, crossing the busy A40 interchange at [Gipsy Corner]?.

Update - this station under threat of closure
Apparently there are secret plans to close this station down. A local campaign has started to save the station - used by commuters who live in Acton.
I do, hence my interest. I also believe that the railway network should definitely not be closing stations. --IvorW
Quoting from the campaign leaflet:
Acton Main Line Station is under threat from Crossrail, the new East-West Rail Link. Crossrail is secretly planning to close the station. [Greenford]? trains would no longer run to Paddington, but turn round at [West Ealing]?. Our station may be closed long before Crossrail is built, unless you ACT NOW to save it. The key points are:
- Crossrail is working directly against Mayor Livingstone’s wishes, despite it reporting to Transport for London, which he runs. Ken publicly promised ( 13th Nov 2003 at Oak Tree Community Centre, South Acton Estate ) that Crossrail will stop in Acton, He said he didn’t mean Chiswick Acton ( i.e NOT [Turnham Green]? ) but the poorer part. As it won’t serve South Acton, that means here ! We suggest a bus/rail interchange for Acton and Park Royal.
- Acton Central will definitely not have Crossrail trains now, so there must be a Crossrail stop at Acton Main Line. A Crossrail stop was planned in the official Crossrail project plans of Autumn 2002. Unfortunately, it seems Crossrail are now going for the “cheapskate option”, forcing local trains and train users off the tracks to make room for theirs, to save the cost of new tracks.
- Consultation by Crossrail has been totally insufficient – they have only put out a few leaflets, and their mobile consultation unit never came to this part of Acton. They are hiding their real intentions for Acton Main Line - admitting only 2 of the 4 peak hour trains will be lost. We deserve proper consultation !
- IF WE DON’T FIGHT THESE PLANS, WE’LL BE THE BIG LOSERS FROM CROSSRAIL: HOUSE PRICES WILL FALL, THE AREA WILL SUFFER ECONOMICALLY, AND PASSENGERS WILL BE FORCED TO TRAVEL MUCH FURTHER AT GREATER INCONVENIENCE.
