The Tate Modern is cunningly named. It is the part of the Tate holding the majority of its modern art collection.
The Tate Modern was opened relatively recently (a decade ago?) in the shell of the old Bankside power station on the south bank of the Thames, just across the Water from St Paul's Cathedral. There is now a handy bridge, the Milennium Bridge for getting between the two.
The old turbine hall inside the building is a massive space, which generally holds some equally massive work.
The restaurant and coffee shops are expensive and the lifts busy!
The views from some of the higher floors are fantastic.
