A pleasant square at the eastern edge of Chelsea. It is the junction of the King's Road, Sloane Street, Lower Sloane Street and Eaton Gate. It is named for Sir Hans Sloane, whose collection gave rise to the British Museum.
Sloane Square is the natural home of the infamous Sloane Ranger.
A large John Lewis-owned department store, Peter Jones, stands on one corner of Sloane Square. There are a large number of shops here and on the King's Road, most of which are quite expensive.
Sloane Square Station is on the Circle and District lines about 15 minutes from the West End. The square is served by a number of bus routes (see the PDF Spider Map), including the 19 to Piccadilly Circus and Tottenham Court Road, and the 11 to Victoria, Trafalgar Square and the City.
