Founded by Jeremy Bentham, University College has a reputation for being one of the more liberal colleges. It offers a balance in its departments and courses between arts / humanities, and science. As such it tends to attract a 50%/50% male to female ratio.
The campus is centred around Gower Street, and the amalgamations have absorbed University College Hospital (which used to be a separate entity), and the Middlesex Hospital.
