Currently under construction in London are a number of skyscrapers, including the "erotic gherkin" Swiss Re Tower and Moorhouse (119 London Wall), and especially in the Canary Wharf area in Tower Hamlets. The "shard of glass" London Bridge Tower has gained approval from local planners but is subject to a public enquiry; at 1000 feet tall it will be Europe's largest building. The government seems to have a strange fascination with Norman Foster and Richard Rogers, the premier exponents of the Big'n'Shiny school of architecture (Foster designed the GLA building for Ken Livingstone, who is also keen for skyscrapers to keep the City competitive).
