In the south east corner of the upper level of Liverpool Street Station is this Wetherspoons pub. It used to be part of the Great Eastern Hotel, and has the magnificent fresco ceilings which date from this time.

This pub is an excellent place to meet up, owing to the proximity of the station. But, it's not the kind of place you want to spend all evening in. It also gets pretty crowded at the end of the week.

The pub is on two floors, each with their own bar. The upper floor is a no smoking restaurant area. There are 6 handpumps at each of the bars, and there are usually but not always, a couple of guest beers.

The loos did used to have an open door to the station, but this has been made into emergency exit - you have to go through the pub to reach the loo. Fair enough when you realise that the station toilets charge 20p downstairs.
