That's what I was thinking of.  Relatively easy to do, but would be
*very* useful to someone who *mostly* knows their way around the area
they'd be travelling in.

Do you want to mail the list about your route finder stuff?  It's been
stuck midway up my other inbox for ages now, waiting for me to get
around to asking you for the source :)
