Historical version 1 of White City (view current version)

Now mainly the name of a central line tube station, opposite the BBC Television Centre. It takes the name from the buildings of the Great Exhibition held on the site - a dog track existed on the corner of Wood Lane and the A40 for years - now occupied by more BBC buildings.

Hammersmith Park (naturally, in Shepherds Bush) behind the BBC (access Frithville gardens, or South Africa Rd (?)) includes part of the 'japanese garden' originally laid out for the exbhibition.

The old Wood Lane tube station building sits a hundred yards south of the current White City station. This used to be the terminus for the Central Line; trains went around a loop to go straight back. This building may be demolished very shortly to make way for a huge shopping complex.
