The Open Guide to London: the free London guide - Differences between Version 5 and Version 4 of Waterloo And City Line

The Drain

This is one of the stranger lines on the network. It connects Bank Station and Waterloo Station, and was built in the last few years of the 19th century, before any other tube lines were dug past Waterloo (which is partly why it seems so odd on the map; there are now other ways of getting between the two stations).

The line runs the same sort of trains as the Central Line, although only half the length, without some of the later modifications the Central Line uses, and with little armrests that got lost on the rest of the network.

The line only runs until the early evening, and not at all on Sundays {too lazy to pull out map- check; Blech}. At the Waterloo end you can see into the train depot, which may interest some people.
