The Open Guide to London: the free London guide - Differences between Version 4 and Version 3 of The Square Pie Company, E1 6AA

Contents are identical

The Square Pie Company have a permanent stand on the east end of Spitalfields market and they serve...Pie.

Pie with mash, gravy and peas (mushy or non) is the order of the day - the pie selection changes from day to day, with a standard selection of favourites such as Steak and Guinness and Ham and Mushroom, and an interesting rotating bunch of specials, such as Chorizo and Chili con Carne. They also offer a selection of interesting vegetarian pies, although quite how vegetarian they are I do not know.

See http://www.squarepiecompany.com/01_pies_mid.htm for the current fare, as well as their other pies.

A pie on its own costs about 4, 5 with mash and 5.50 to add peas - a can of drink on top will round it up to 5.95, and portion sizes are good.

They also have a selection of large and small pies uncooked ready to be taken home.

The pies themselves seem to be all very nice - the only sticking point on the quality of the food depends on your taste in mash potato; the Square Pie Company leave their mash fairly lumpy (more chunky) and floury than some people like [I was not convinced on my first visit, but I am now a convert - Billy]

All the food is served up in a cardboard takeaway dish, a bit like a squashed and stretched out US chinese food takeaway carton, and they'll even seal it up for you to takeaway...

There is seating in the market right in front of the stall, but it is often quite full as it doesn't seem to be just for the pie company, but seats generally come up quite quickly.
