Stanfords is a superb map and travel guide shop situated on Long Acre, about halfway between Leicester Square and Covent Garden tube stations.

The ground floor which you walk into has a world map covering the entire floor, and is (naturally) one of two World sections, with maps and guides across all the continents on this floor and the one above. The basement floor is covered with a superb London A-Z - try walking your route into work! The basement contains the England and Ireland sections, with the whole variety of Ordnance Survey maps and atlases and a huge variety of others stocked. There is also a very substantial London section with all sorts of books and maps about the capital.

For maps and guides this shop beats even the big ones like Waterstones on Piccadilly or Borders on Oxford St. Highly recommended.
