Previously the <a href=\"?Grand_Union_Canal\">Grand Union Canal</a> had reached as far as <a href=\"?Paddington\">Paddington</a> and so the Regent's Canal was added in order to extend it all the way to <a href=\"?Limehouse\">Limehouse</a> in the London <a href=\"?Docklands\">Docklands</a></p>\n<p>Also known as the North Metropolitan Canal, the Regent's Canal runs from <a href=\"?Little_Venice\">Little Venice</a> in the west, past <a href=\"?Regents_Park\">Regents Park</a> and the <a href=\"?London_Zoo\">London Zoo</a> to [Camden Lock]<a href=\"?action=edit;id=Camden_Lock\">?</a>, where the famous <a href=\"?Camden_Lock_Market,_NW1_8AH\">Camden Market</a> is held, through a tunnel under <a href=\"?Islington\">Islington</a>, onwards past pretty <a href=\"?Victoria_Park\">Victoria Park</a> and its junction with the <a href=\"?Hertford_Union_Canal\">Hertford Union Canal</a>, alongside <a href=\"?Mile_End_Park\">Mile End Park</a> and on all the way to the <a href=\"?Docklands\">Docklands</a>.</p>\n<pre>\n\n</pre>\n<p>Along the way there are numerous waterside pubs and restaurants, which make up a very pretty route right through the centre of London. You can also go on various narrowboat cruises along the canal, which is a lovely way to see a hidden part of London.</p>\n<p>On New Wharf Road, near King's Cross Station, there is a <a href=\"?Canal_Museum\">Canal Museum</a> where you can find out more about London's canals.</p>\n<p>The Regent's Canal is an excellent <a href=\"?Cycling\">cycling</a> route across East London. Cyclists and pedestrians usually co-exist fairly well, but you should ting your bell twice as you come up behind people.
