The building of the tram depot and re-routing of some of the roads resulted in most of one of the pubs being demolished, the other one was the Red Lion, which faced the junction.\n\nUp until the 1990s, it was a [[Fuller's]] pub with much character, including a bar with a tree in the middle of it. Sadly, Fuller's neglected this pub, and a series of bad managements allowed it to decline and eventually close.\n\nWetherspoons bought the pub, rebuilt it and opened in 1994. \n\n==== Service and Ambience ====\n\nThis pub is termed \"The Goldfish Bowl\" by locals. This is owing to the 270° arc of windows facing the junction of the High Street ([[Uxbridge Road]]) and Gunnersbury Lane. Adding to the goldfish effect is the circular bar in the middle - the staff probably feel they are in a goldfish bowl too!\n\nThe staff are OK once you get to know them, but may appear lacking in the sense of humour department. They also suffer from the Wetherspoon eye contact problem - it's quite hard to get yourself noticed, standing at the bar. \n\nThis is usually a good place to go for peace and quiet (though not on a Friday or Saturday night, as the place gets crowded). There's no music, and used to be no television screens. Plasma screens were added for the 2006 football world cup, but they usually have the sound turned down.\n\n==== Layout ====\n\n* Circular bar - 'goldfish bowl' (see above). \n* Dining area at the rear.\n* Beer garden.\n\nEverything is on one floor.\n\n==== Other Reviews ====\n\n* [http://www.johnamer.freeserve.co.uk/west.htm John and Stuart review]\n* [http://www.qype.co.uk/place/137079-The-red-lion-and-pineapple-London Qype reviews]\n","latitude":"51.507735","formatted_content":"
\n
Pub chain: JD Wetherspoon
\n
Nearby Tube stops: Acton Town / Ealing Common
\n
\n
Drinks
\n\n
Good cheap beer:
\n
Shepherd Neame Spitfire, Fuller's London Pride, Courage Directors, Marstons Pedigree, Guest Ales
\n
De Konyck draught Belgian beer on hand pump
\n
A variety of ciders on draught.
\n
Kronenburg 1664, Kozel czech lager in bottles
\n

\n

\n
\n

\n
Food
\n\n
Standard Wetherspoon's menu.
