O'Hanlon's Dry Stout 2.40 (16.ix.2000)

Review

Welcome Irish brewpub at a crossroads not far from Farringdon Road. Large woody interior, but it was such a nice day in August when we went that we all sat outside on the chairs and tables on the pavement, which isn't something you can usually do when drinking real stout. They'd recently had some guest ales from a brewery in Carlow, which was impressive, and a good sign for the future of Irish brewing. Yes. ( CRB viii.1999)

Mark Dickerson updates: They've taken out the glass racks above the bar, which opens up the feel of the place, but the rumoured refurbishment hasn't really altered the marvelously-shabby decor and battered old armchairs. Only one cask beer on my visit, and very quiet on a Saturday afternoon. (16.ix.2000)
