DaveH told me about an excellent meal he had here. He was particularly impressed by the eel with honey and black pepper — “melty and sticky and sweet” — and the large grilled prawns with “intense peppery sauce”. -- Kake

DaveHodg It's open from 5p to 4am, although I could swear I've seen people in there at lunchtime, when I usually go to the steamy one next door for a pile of gloop for a fiver. When we were there, I'd estimate the clientele at about 75% Chinese. This is often taken as a good sign.

We had seaweed and hot and sour soup to start. Then went sliding off menu with the absolutely sublime eel in honey and pepper and the prawns. We also had a broccoli dish with slivers of fish in which was OK. With tea and two small beers, it came to 55. In a meaner frame of mind I'd lose the broccoli and maybe swap a simpler sweet and sour or noodle dish for the prawns. Maybe also just do sesame prawn toast instead of the soups.

Service was attentive, helpful and not intrusive as they say.

All in all though, really good and with a closing time like that, no time pressures at all!

AlexMcLintock - the crispy duck pancakes are especially good here.
