Cheap fast Japanese food just off Leicester Square, in portions about double the size of (and costing less than) most Japanese places in London.

Not immediately obvious, as its sign is rather smaller than most of those that surround it. It's between the Tarboush Lebanese Restaurant and the London Jade Garden on the west side of Wardour Street.

It offers takeaway too, but I haven't tried this.

Food

Mainly rice or noodle dishes, with a surprisingly good sushi and sashimi selection (the best sashimi I've ever had in London, in fact). A pretty wide range of food, including quite a few vegetarian options.

Sapporo beer is available, as is sake (Ozeki, from a catering carton).

Expect to pay between 5 and 12 per person (the latter will leave you very well-fed).

Busyness

About half the tables are for two people - a party of two will get seated much sooner than a party of three or four at busy times. (More than four should go somewhere else.) Something of a rush pre-film and theatre on weekdays, with a significant queue (10-15 minutes' worth) around 6.45-7.15, but much less by 8.

They don't take plastic, but cash and cheques are both acceptable.

The staff are friendly but brisk.
