The London Eye, a huge wheel located on the south bank of the Thames that slowly rotates capsules of people up and down, is one of London's more recently built tourist attractions. It is worth going up it for the views - even at night time, when raining, they are pretty spectacular.

The attraction is sponsored by British Airways, and themed as a "cruise". Originally intended to be ready for Y2K, it opened a few months late but proved to be much more popular than the government's own Y2K project, the [[Millennium Dome]].

==== Vertigo sufferers ====

You will be in a closed capsule with plenty of structures to hold onto. However, this could well be not your cup of tea, especially as the view vertically down takes you above the machinery, much like a fairground ferris wheel.

It doesn't move particularly fast - about twice the speed of a minute hand, so the whole ride lasts 1/2 hour.

==== Queueing ====

This is a busy attraction, so allow plenty of time for queueing (1 hour typical, longer at peak times and seasons). Party bookings reduce this queueing time to about 1/2 hour.
