The Open Guide to London: the free London guide

The Evening Standard is London's only evening newspaper. It's owned by the Associated group, who also own the Daily Mail, and who have a stake in Metro. I believe it costs about 40 pence, and it's published on weekdays, with the first edition out at about 10am and the last one at about 4pm.

Personally I feel that it's heinously biased in favour of the Sussex-based commuters who need something light to read on the train home in the evening, and I really dislike the way it spins stories about the congestion charge, for example. Still, it's popular; you'll see about half the passengers on the Tube in the evening rush hour reading it. -- blech
