Historical version 7 of Elephant And Castle Shopping Centre (view current version)

A charming example of 1960s brutalist architecture, this shopping centre (next to Elephant and Castle Roundabout) was until recently bright pink. Feels grim and very run-down inside; its age is really showing. Earmarked for demolition as part of the plan to regenerate Elephant and Castle. Frequently mistaken for a traffic island.

Has supermarkets, restaurants, and a drab bowling alley on the top floor. Also there's supposed to be a secondhand bookshop called Tlön Books there somewhere, but I didn't see it when I went there recently [December 2003].

A street market apparently happens outside, anyone know about this?
