Crystal Palace Park is in South London at the top of Sydenham Hill. its easy to find just drive towards the nearest of the two giant TV transmitters that dominate the skyline south of the Thames. (The other transmitter is at the top of Beulah Hill.)
It was the site of the Crystal Palace, a giant Victorian exhibition and arts centre which burnt down in 1936. The extensive grounds contain many lakes, life size statues of dinosaurs, ancient oak trees, the National Sports Centre, a maze, an open air concert bowl.

Crystal Palace railway station gives easy access from both Victoria and London bridge terminals.
