The Painted Cows

  • Art

The official name for this is "Cow Parade". It's a kind of art thing; full sized cow sculptures painted with various themed designs appear for a summer in cities — all over the world, not just London — at prominent junctions and open spaces. The exhibition raises money for charity, and encourages environmental awareness.

There was one in Hammersmith Station, and also several in Gloucester Road Station, which is one of several Tube stations showing art.

The thing that amused me was the one dressed up as a Beefeater — I thought Beefeaters were male by definition? Oh, you're so twentieth century, darling.

You can see the ones that appeared in London in the Gallery. Having finished their run, they're on sale now! You can bid for them in auction - if you have enough space in your front garden ;-).
