Historical version 2 of Canonbury (view current version)

Area of Islington roughly bounded by St. Paul's Road, Canonbury Rd and Essex Road. Some streets still retain a village feel even though this is now part of urban inner London.

George Orwell started writing 1984 whilst living at 27B Canonbury Square. Today the square is home to the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art. The nearby Tower Theatre has recently closed.

Canonbury has its own Station, although Highbury & Islington and Essex Road stations are technically closer to its heart.
