Shops with board games

  • Playin Games on Museum Street (near to the British Museum) is one of the best board game shops in London.
  • Hamleys, Regent Street has a fair selection.
  • Village Games in Camden Market is tiny but wonderful.
  • BCM Chess Shop, Baker street, has a wide variety of chess books, magazines, software and equipment (boards and clocks). More recently they have been selling Bridge books as well. I know some of the staff who work here --IvorW.
  • Chess and Bridge, Euston Road (Nearest tube Warren street, Great Portland Street), are a larger and less cozy shop.
  • Leisure Games in Finchley.

Popular in London

Tantrix

This is a tile based game similar to a demented version of dominos. It was invented by a New Zealander but has a worldwide following. You can find and play with London players online if you visit tantrix.com.

Snatch

A word game reminiscent of Scrabble without a board. You can "snatch" opponents' words and add letters to them to make new anagrams.
