Lines Served

Northern Line: north <--- Highgate <--- Archway ---> Tufnell Park ---> south
Archway station was previously named "Highgate" and was the terminus of the north-east branch of the Northern Line. When the line was extended to High Barnet, the station was renamed to "Archway" and the name "Highgate" was given to the next station along, which was located under the overland rail station (now closed) of the same name.

Like most deep tube stations, there is no step-free access at Archway. The station is located under the Archway Tower, which is quite possibly one of the most depressing pieces of architecture in all of London. The surrounding area is nicer than its reputation would lead you to believe.
