Acton Market
The triangle of land outside the King's Head, St. Mary's Church and [Morrisons]?, historically had been a market place for centuries. In the 1990s, Morrisons was built, King Street was pedestrianised, we lost the public loos, and [Ealing Council]? in their infinite wisdom of the time, created a secluded area with shrubberies and park benches. This was a tramp's paradise!
In the noughties, with a change of heart and some campaigning, Ealing Council removed the shrubs and park benches to create an open space, designated as a market. It's only actively had market stalls on it since 2007, though we now have an active farmer's market on Saturdays, and many of the stalls are also present on Sundays.
Of note is "Olive Healthy", a stall run by a Turkish man selling the tastiest olives in town (better than those on sale at Borough Market!) that he grows himself.
