Walthamstow Market

Walthamstow Market, with 450 stalls taking the length of [Walthamstow High Street]?, is one of the longest street markets in Europe. It certainly claims to be the longest.

On sale are fruit & veg, clothing, electronics, music, household goods and general bric-a-brac.

In close proximity is [Selbourne Walk Shopping Centre]?. In mid 2004 part of the shopping centre was damaged by fire and the whole building was closed. But now it's all refurbished and open again in 2006.

There are often special events in the square next to the Market in spring and summer, including street performers and a French Market.

I believe that Walthamstow Market was used as a model for Eastenders' Walford Market. --IvorW
