Revolutionary engineer of the 19th century who designed Hammersmith Bridge and Battersea Bridge, restored the Albert Bridge and designed the 85-mile long sewer system that saved London from the Great Stink. There is a bust of him on the [Embankment]?.
Curiously, his great-grandson invented the TV show "Big Brother".
