Rotherhithe Station is notable for being at the southern end of [Isambard Kingdom Brunel]?'s [Thames Tunnel]?, which in 1843 was the world's first tunnel underneath a river. The [Brunel Engine House]? museum, detailing its construction, is behind the station.
Opposite the station is the southern entrance to the [Rotherhithe Tunnel]?, a road tunnel under the Thames.
