London Stock Exchange
The London Stock Exchange is the principal UK market for trading in equities (stocks and shares) and securities (bonds, warrants, etc).
The FTSE UK indices are based on company share prices listed on the LSE.
LSE abandoned "Open Outcry" trading in favour of all electronic trading in 1998, using SETS (Stock Exchange Trading System) - software that LSE developed in-house.
The London Stock Exchange building is a tall concrete construction, located in the City of London close to the [Bank of England]? and Bank station. It has much spare floor space, owing to the removal of the dealing pits and the moving of a lot of the staff to cheaper non-city locations. The building mainly houses IT and market operations staff, since all the trading is now conducted electronically.
