Turn down Queensborough Terrace past the hotel concourse towards terraced cheaper hotels. If you look down into the basement of one of the first buildings, you will see the bar of the Latvian Club.

It has the feeling of a small student union bar. The ground and upper floors of the building are the Latvia Tourist Office, and the Latvia Development Agency. The building also has a Latvian library, with Latvian, Russian and other East European newspapers.

The bar has a range of Latvian bottled beers (warning: the weakest one is 5.2 % ABV). They used to have a range of flavoured vodkas, but these were not on sale when I was there (IvorW Aug 2004).
