Karma Indian Restaurant

The South Indian dishes of this curry joint take the taste buds on a far more complex journey than your usual mediocre curry. Speciality dishes like Gosht Xacuti (Goan lamb), Nizami Mutton Biryani and Chicken Vindaloo (not what you would normally expect, though still quite hot) offer layered flavour sensations. Appetizers were far more interesting than the usual samosas and pappadoms, with a lurid green paneer (cheese), crispy potato and delicious feta parcels.

Decor is modern with crisp linen tablecloths making the place look posher than you'd expect for the prices. Service is quick, polite and discreet.

My only complaint would be that the regional specialities all use similar spicings, so on my return visit I'll be mixing it up a bit with some "traditional" curry dishes and maybe some fish. I might also leave the chicken vindaloo to last because it is quite hot (though not stupidly hot) and might have impaired my tastebuds since I started with it.

Final note: the map link on the web site points to the wrong end of Blythe Road. The restaurant is at the corner of Blythe Road and Hazlit Road, very close to Kensington Olympia Station.
