I live in Bermondsey, work in London Bridge, & spend a reasonable amount of time in Islington. So mostly I know those areas.

I'm vegan, & ever in search of places where there is nice vegan food for me to eat vast quantities of. Also good pubs.

Try more pubs in Bermondsey, rather than just defaulting to the [George, SE1 1NH]? or the Royal Oak, SE1 4JU.
