Hoop And Grapes, EC4A 4BL

The pub is just below [Holborn Viaduct]?.

I discovered this pub by chance, and was enticed in by "Cask Marque" posters, and a pub name which suggested real ale (it was called the Mash Tun at this time). I was not disappointed.

I found out that this pub will be taken over by the independent brewers Shepherd Neame in two weeks time (IvorW visited on 19th Feb 2004). This page (and the pub) needs a revisit after the takeover is complete.

A narrow staircase leads to the upstairs rooms. There are loos on the ground and third floors.

Two upstairs function rooms on the first and second floor, both of which could accommodate 40 people.

Pool table on 2nd floor.

Pub name changes

Before March 2004, this pub was called the Mash Tun, and was run by a Pubco.
